About Life's Companion
This newly revised version of Christina Baldwin's classic retains all the elements 90,000 readers have come to love—with a few nods to the changing landscape of journal writing—laptops, blogging, and still the smell of fountain pen ink on bound-book pages.
If you’ve loved the book before, buy it for the next generation of journal writers around you and treat yourself to a fresh copy! The book offers twenty-four personal essays on aspects of spiritual life, with quotes and journal excerpts, and writing exercises presented on facing pages alongside the text.
Most reader's copies are underlined and dog-eared and read over and over again for inspiration and clarity. It is an excellent companion to Lifelines and Storycatcher.
Reviews and Praise:
"Christina Baldwin and her work have been a source of wisdom and guidance for me for 20 years. The clarity of her directions will help you find the deep truths of your own life, as it has for the thousands of others she's inspired. Don't just read Life's Companion, use it!"
—China Galland, author of Love Cemetery and Longing for Darkness
“On the spiritual journey Christina Baldwin is my guide. Full of wonderful exercises and insights, this mature and profound work brings the tradition of journal writing into the twenty-first century as our Western form of meditation.”
—Tristine Rainer, author of The New Diary and Your Life as Story
“Original, fresh and provocative, teeming with insights, suggestions, and paths to explore.”
—Morton Kelsey, author of Companions on the Inner Way and Adventure Inward
“Christina is a pioneer. Her books are never re-makes of information you can find in other places. If you find similar works, they've probably been influenced by her. Even this new edition of her classic, Life's Companion, is full of new material. I have both editions, and wouldn't part with either one.”
—Deb Lund, author of children’s books Monsters on Machines and All Aboard the Dinotrain
“Life's Companion is an essential tool to anyone going through life's transitions. I have had it with me since 1991 - ready to use when I needed some help sorting through what I was experiencing. It will never be passé, old stuff - the words are as meaningful and helpful now as they were the first time I used this book. I especially appreciated the right-hand page of journal entries, quotes and exercises. If you have one book on your shelf to nurture your self-growth, it should be this one.”
—Ann Eyerman, author of Women in the Office: Transitions in a Global Economy
“This book helped me transform my spiritual quest from a meandering walk through the universe, to a path of enrichment and purpose. It gave me a new basis for my personal theology. Additionally, it fueled my creativity in a way I did not expect and my journaling has been much more meaningful and therapeutic since. If you are feeling that itch deep inside, a feeling that SOMETHING inside your soul wants to have its story told, this book will help you more than you can imagine.”

About the Author, Christina Baldwin
Christina Baldwin is a writer and seminar presenter of 30+ years experience. She has contributed two classic books to the exploration of journal writing, including the well-known classic, Life's Companion, Journal Writing as a Spiritual Practice, revised and reissued in 2007 after 100,000 original sales. This work led her to a long study of personal growth and group dynamics and as a result of that experience she wrote Calling the Circle, the First and Future Culture to explore how social container releases needed wisdom. In recognition of the requirement for increased spirituality, she wrote, The Seven Whispers, A Spiritual Practice for Times Like These. Her legacy book, Storycatcher, Making Sense of our Lives through the Power and Practice of Story, reminds readers of the necessity of story to communicate in all areas of professional and personal life. Continuing the exploration of collaborative dialogue, Christina and Ann Linnea wrote a new classic, The Circle Way, A Leader in Every Chair, which documents applications of PeerSpirit Circle Process as a foundational tool for local to global change.
