STORYTELLING INTENSIVE WORKSHOP
WITH CHRISTINA BALDWIN AND ANN LINNEA
Melbourne, Australia
July 21, 2011
People have been practicing the skill of story for tens of thousands of years in every language ever spoken and every society ever developed. Story is the transmitter of wisdom, the carrier for ninety percent of everything we know. Story will set the vision in place for where we are going: we proceed from the story into the action. Want to change yourself? Your organization? The world? Start with those stories... In a professional arena crowded with tools and theories, the return to story shines in its clarity and simplicity.
The Storytelling Intensive Workshop will be delivered by Christina
Baldwin and Ann Linnea, founders of PeerSpirit and accomplished
authors. You will experience the power of story to significantly
influence the quality of your personal life and your engagement with
the important organisations - both professional and community based -
to which you belong.
THE POWER OF CONVERSATION! - THE 17TH ANNUAL FALL CONFERENCE OF NWONE (NORTHWEST ORGANIZATION OF NURSE EXECUTIVES)
With Margaret Wheatley, Marie Manthey & Christina Baldwin
September 22-24, 2010
NWONE hosts an annual fall program each year to allow nurse leaders from across the Pacific Northwest to come together for professional fellowship, renewal and for stimulating learning. Working together through NWONE allows nurse leaders to collaborate in learning and to problem solve to uncover those areas where there is strength in numbers, areas where by standing together in association nurse leaders can be more effective than standing alone. This conference is meant to stimulate thinking about the ways nurse leaders approach relationships, problem solving, and the management of complex work environments, with the belief that in conversation and community answers will be found.
NWONE is proud to present a world class line-up of influential wisdom workers as our speakers for this conference. Margaret Wheatley, an internationally known speaker and author on topics related to community, will facilitate a half day session on Thursday morning Marie Manthey will deliver the opening keynote focusing on her life-long commitment to relationship based care, primary nursing and respectful dialogue. And Christina Baldwin will provide opening reflections and facilitate a session addressing both the “hard” and “soft” components of our nursing practice.

Through journaling and other writing exercises, collage and simple body practices, attendees were guided into the art of making meaningful stories of their life experiences.
Sessions focused on:
- The nature and history of story
- The use of journal writing to surface life themes and provide a map for healing
- How to work with experiences to gain integration and wisdom
- Healing family and influencing social networks through story

2008 ALUMNI ADVANCED TRAINING PROGRAM - THE LUKE CENTER FOR CATALYTIC LEADERSHIP
Tree of Life: Story as a Form of Leadership
Held October 9-11, 2008
Featuring Christina Baldwin
In October, Christina facilitated a 2-day intensive training for alumni of the Luke Center's Pacific Program. Incorporating lecture, open dialogue, small group work, writing, and harvesting of insights, Christina worked with participants to help them learn how to organize and create story out of chaos, and use it to support the challenges they face as leaders.
"Leaders must constantly sort through confusion, chaos, conflicting dates, differing perspectives, and diverse opinions and then make clear decisions and be able to explain them. As Christina Baldwin understands, story is essential to explaining these decisions, putting them in context so others can align with them, and weaving decisions into the life of communities and organizations."
–John Morgan, Program Director
16th ANNUAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT – EXPLORING THE FRONTIERS OF LEADERSHIP
IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT

"I don't think that words can express our gratitude for such a wonderful presentation and job
incorporating the Journal into our program. We had tried to incorporate the Journal before
but without any significant success. The closing session on Saturday morning is always a challenge to
engage our members, however, you kept them involved and engaged right to the end.
Thank you also for taking so much time from your busy schedule to join us during all of the program
over the
three days. Our attendees greatly enjoyed the opportunity to hear you as well as talk with you
throughout the program; you are a wonderful story teller and just a kind person to be around.
We would definitely love to have to join us again in the future."
—Dwight Horkheimer, National League of Cities
