Meet Christina Baldwin, author and storycatcher

Author, teacher, keynote speaker.

Christina Baldwin, author of Storycatcher

Learner, listener, Storycatcher.

Christina Baldwin has a passion for story! Her life work addresses the deep need in modern culture to re-establish authentic and heartfelt exchanges of story—both oral and written.

She believes:
Story is how we become real to each other.
Story is how we create community.
Story is how we imagine our way forward.

From her island home near Seattle, Washington, USA, Christina invites people to the heart of story, and travels as a troubadour of inspiring and educational tales. Through her educational company, PeerSpirit, Inc., she speaks in large conferences to excite story activism, consults with organizations to build foundational and strategic stories, offers in-depth writing seminars, and co-leads wilderness immersion experiences. Click here for her full calendar. Her legacy seminar, The Self as the Source of the Story—Storycatching your Life, is offered twice a year in retreat settings that nurture full immersion into writing practice.

Her life journey is recorded in her published works. After graduating from Macalester College with honors in English and from Columbia Pacific University with a master's degree in Educational Psychology, she began her public career in the field of journal writing. Her classic books, One to One: Self-Understanding through Journal Writing, and Life's Companion: Journal Writing as a Spiritual Quest, have helped tens of thousands of people articulate the dialogue they are having with themselves. This pioneering work is also available on 6-CD curriculum: Lifelines, How Personal Writing Can Save Your Life.

Christina’s study of personal growth and group dynamics led to her groundbreaking book, Calling the Circle, the First and Future Culture. PeerSpirit methodology, co-designed with Ann Linnea, is based on ways that circle process can help people hold significant and collaborative dialogues. After twenty pioneering years taking circle into the global conversation movement, in 2010 they co-authored The Circle Way, A Leader in Every Chair. Her book, The Seven Whispers, A Spiritual Practice for Times Like These, invites people into a dialogue with soul.

In Storycatcher, Making Sense of our Lives through the Power and Practice of Story, she turns to the theme that weaves through all her work and writing: her utter belief that the power of story will renew the world on an individual to collective level.
